NYSE rejects NASDAQ bid

The New York Stock Exchange recently rejected the Nasdaq’s bid even though it was 10% higher than Deutsche Boerse AG. Is this simply NYSE wants a complete merger or is there something else happening here? I have some theories on that plus China’s 1st quarterly trade deficit in 7 years.
